Where Is My Family?

I painted a Malleefowl standing alone in a quiet landscape. It is looking into the distance, searching for the family it can no longer find. Around it, the flowers have eyes and tears. They are crying because they can see the bird's sadness but cannot help. Nature is watching as another Australian species struggles to survive. The black cat at the bottom represents one of the biggest dangers to native wildlife. Introduced predators, together with habitat loss and bushfires, have made it harder for Malleefowl to find safe places to live and raise their chicks. The dark mountain behind the bird makes the world feel empty and lonely, showing that its home is changing. I used bright pink to remind people that Australia is still beautiful, but beauty alone cannot protect endangered animals. The Malleefowl is placed in the centre because every endangered animal deserves to be seen and remembered. I hope people look into the Malleefowl's eye and wonder where its family has gone. If we protect habitats, control introduced predators, and care for Australian wildlife, perhaps one day this lonely bird will no longer have to search for the family it has lost.
