The Secret Dragon of Canberra's Grasslands

I chose to paint the Canberra Grassland Earless Dragon because it is a special little animal that lives in our local grasslands, but many people have never heard of it. I wanted to show the dragon in its natural home, resting safely among the native grasses where it belongs. I surrounded the dragon with tussock grasses, including Kangaroo Grass, because these plants are an important part of its habitat. They give the dragon places to hide, stay safe, and search for food. While creating this artwork, I discovered that many of our native grasslands are disappearing, which puts the Canberra Grassland Earless Dragon at risk. Through my painting, I hope to help people notice this amazing creature and understand why protecting our grasslands is so important. By caring for these habitats, we can help the dragon and other native animals survive for many years to come.
