Starry Diamond Firetails

I picked diamond firetails to paint. I think these little Australian birds are so magical. Their wings have tiny white dots just like stars, and their red beaks look so cute. I was amazed when I first saw pictures of them, so I wanted to draw them. These pretty birds live in grasslands in Australia, but their homes are getting smaller. People clear the grass to build things, and hot dry droughts happen more often because of climate change. They cannot find enough grass seeds to eat, so it is hard for them to live safely in the wild. I painted two diamond firetails sitting on branches under a dark starry night sky. The little white spots on the sky match the spots on the birds’ feathers. I hope people who look at my painting will fall in love with these little birds too. I want to tell everyone that even tiny wild birds need our help. If we look after the grasslands, diamond firetails will always have a safe place to rest and fly.
