for the Orange-bellied Parrot

Critically Endangered

By Charlotte, age 12

My artwork is of the orange bellied parrot. The bird is labelled Critically Endangered and only lives in Tasmania, flying over the sea to areas of southeastern Australia in the winter. There are less than a hundred wild adult birds of these species, and it’s vital to protect them now more than ever. These beautiful creatures have been around way before us, and it’s just cruel to let ourselves watch their lines die off. Strive to let these birds live and maybe we’ll hear the beat of their wings syncing with the pulse of our hearts. May these creations of nature continue living, even if it’s just their spirits
