I chose the Orange-bellied Parrot because it stood out to me. The Orange-bellied Parrot is the most endangered parrot in all of Australia. There are only about 150 left in the wild. It is becoming endangered due to the destruction of coastal wintering habitats and and genetic issues related to small population sizes. They live for just over two years and after the eggs hatch the female stays in the nest for around 10 days with the male. They are one of only 3 types of parrot in the world that migrate. They migrate from theiur breeding are in Melaleuca, Tsmania to coastal Victoria and South Australia for the autumn and winter.
