I love whales
for the Blue Whale
EndangeredBy Ivy, age 7
I love whales because they are beautiful and very smart. I went on a whale watching tour out in the ocean, and we travelled so far that I couldn't even see the town anymore. On the tour, I saw two humpback whales. Seeing them made me really interested in learning about all kinds of whales. Whales are endangered because, in the past, many were killed by people. Today, people also catch large amounts of krill, which means there is less food for the whales to eat. We can help protect whales by not leaving rubbish in the ocean, as it can hurt them. We should also stop taking so much of their food so they have enough to eat and can survive. I love being Aboriginal, and I like taking care of my country. Aboriginal people have cared for the land and water for thousands of years. When Aboriginal people were taken from their land, it made them very sad. I want to care for my Country, my kin, and the animals, just as my ancestors did.
