Giant Friend

for the Whale Shark

Vulnerable

By Yichen, age 11

I have always loved whale sharks. They are the biggest fish in the ocean, but they are gentle and peaceful. I think that is what makes them so special. Whale sharks live in a world that is very different from ours. The deep ocean is their home, and we are only visitors in their world. I think humans and whale sharks can share the ocean as long as we respect their space and take care of their home. I painted this picture in an illustration style because I wanted it to feel like a page from a story about a child meeting a giant friend under the sea. To me, a giant friend doesn't have to be someone who looks like us. Sometimes, it can be a creature from a completely different world.
