CAUGHT MID-MUNCH!

Hi, I’m 9-year-old Lucas, and I really, really love fluffy animals! When I first learned about the Mountain Pygmy-possum, I instantly fell in love with it. I think it is at its absolute cutest when it is munching on little native berries and nuts! In my artwork, I wanted to bring this tiny, endangered friend to life. I used a mix of different pencils and gouache paints to build up layers of soft fur, making him look as fluffy as possible. I paid extra attention to his eyes—I think his big, curious eyes are just so adorable! Because of climate change and disappearing food like Bogong moths, these sweet little creatures are in big danger. I drew this picture because I hope everyone will see how precious and cute they are, and help protect their chilly mountain homes before they disappear!
